East Sussex College - a high-quality British college with many opportunities!

1. A HIGH-QUALITY COLLEGE IN THE UK

East Sussex College has four campuses in East Sussex. They are located in Eastbourne, Hastings, Lewes and Newhaven.

We provide excellent care and support for our students.

Our Lewes campus is accredited by the British Council. In our 2023 inspection, we achieved 13 out of 15 areas of strength. This placed us among the top language providers in the UK.

In January 2025, OFSTED rated East Sussex College as GOOD. They quoted:

“Students, apprentices and adult learners learn in an extremely supportive and aspirational college environment that inspires their future achievements. They have very positive attitudes to their learning and value the support they receive from highly professional staff, which motivates them to complete their studies and flourish”.

2. A Wide range of courses - more than just a language school!

East Sussex College offers much more than English language courses.

We combine the friendly atmosphere of a language school with all the opportunities of a large state college. Our English language courses are accredited by the British Council.

You can choose from:

  • General English (15 hours per week)
  • English Language Plus (21 hours per week)
  • International Study Year (High School Programme)
  • Mini International Study Year
  • 1-1 and Part-time English Language Courses
  • A Levels
  • Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
  • University-Level courses

3. Feel at Home in the uk

We offer two types of accommodation for our students:

  • Self-catering accommodation on our Lewes campus (18+)
  • Homestay accommodation with local host families

Both options give students a safe and comfortable place to live while studying in the UK.

Every year, we welcome students from many different countries. Our international community creates an exciting and friendly learning environment.

At the moment, our students come from across Europe, Latin America and East Asia. This gives you the chance the learn about different cultures and make friends from around the world.

5. Meet British students and experience uk life

There are many opportunities to meet British students during your time at East Sussex College.

You may study alongside British students on our International Study Year or A Level programmes. English Language students can also meet British people through a range of activities.

You can:

  • Join college activities such as choir, the gym or film club
  • Join a local club in the area
  • Take part in student activities and events

These are great ways to make friends, practise your English and learn more about British culture.

6. excellent results, outstanding futures

We are very proud of our students and their achievements.

Our A Level results are consistently excellent. In 2025, students on 49 A Level courses achieved a 100% pass rate.

Many international students have progressed to leading universities in the UK, including Oxford, Cambridge, LSE and Durham. Students have also gone on to study at top universities round the world, including Harvard University and the University of Hong Kong.

Our English Language Plus courses run throughout the year, with no half-term breaks, so students can start their courses at different times during the year.

Our campuses are located in the beautiful South Downs area of South East England.

We have four campuses:

  • Eastbourne, a popular seaside town on the south coast
  • Hastings, a historic coastal town
  • Lewes, a charming market town near Brighton
  • Newhaven, a coastal town with a modern marina and excellent transport links

All four locations offer a safe and friendly environment for international students and have good transport links to London.

We know that students want more than just a great course. They also want to make friends, discover new places and experience life in the UK.

That's why we organise regular trips and social activities throughout the year. Students can visit exciting places such as Cambridge and Thorpe Park, spend time with friends and create lasting memories.

These activities are a great way to practise English, learn about British culture and enjoy new experiences.
