Travel and Tourism Level 3 Diploma

his two-year course is equivalent to three A Levels and is designed to prepare learners for higher education and careers within the travel and tourism industry. In the first year, learners achieve the NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism, before progressing to complete the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism in the second year. Throughout the course, learners develop a broad understanding of the sector through units such as The World of Travel and Tourism, Global Destinations, Managing the Customer Experience in Travel and Tourism, Travel and Tourism Enterprises, The Airport Experience, and Visitor Attractions, while building the practical, professional, and transferable skills valued by employers across this dynamic and globally significant industry.

Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4.

You will be assessed through a range of internally assessed coursework and practical activities designed to reflect real working practices within the travel and tourism industry. Assessment methods may include written assignments, research projects, professional reports, presentations, role plays, case studies, the creation of industry materials such as itineraries and promotional resources, practical activities, and both individual and group work. These varied assessment methods allow learners to demonstrate their knowledge, understanding and skills in realistic travel and tourism contexts.

uccessful completion of the NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism can provide progression opportunities to higher education, including travel and tourism, aviation, hospitality, events management, business, and related degree programmes at university. The qualification is designed to support progression into employment, apprenticeships, or further study within the travel, tourism, hospitality, and visitor economy sectors.

The course also prepares learners for a wide range of careers, including roles such as Retail Travel Consultant, Tour Guide, Holiday Advisor, Cabin Crew, Airport Customer Service Agent, Visitor Attraction Officer, Events Assistant, Hotel and Resort Staff, Conference and Events Coordinator, Cruise Industry Representative, Tour Operator Assistant, Business Travel Consultant, and Customer Experience Executive. The transferable skills developed throughout the programme, including communication, customer service, problem-solving, teamwork, and industry knowledge, are highly valued by employers across the travel and tourism industry.

A smart course uniform is required to support participation in industry events, employer engagement activities, and practical learning experiences, with an estimated cost of approximately £100. In addition, learners should budget for approximately £50 to contribute towards educational visits, industry trips, and enrichment activities that enhance their understanding of the sector and provide valuable real-world experience.
