Inclusive Learning supports and challenges young people aged 16-24 with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities). Our student-first ethos ensures everyone reaches personal goals and learning outcomes. Every young person in our community deserves access to a quality education that equips them with the skills, knowledge, and behaviours to progress towards greater independence and adulthood.
Our team collaborates with students and their families to create personalised learning pathways and set ambitious goals, celebrating achievements throughout the year. Most students have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP), with some requiring additional support or therapy as specified in their plans. Our specialist staff focus on each student’s strengths, working to build independence and confidence. Courses are designed to prepare young people for adult life, independence, and employment, with dedicated facilities such as therapy rooms, personal care spaces, and sensory areas.
Students are encouraged to improve their Maths and English skills, with options to pursue GCSEs or Functional Skills qualifications if appropriate. They will also develop digital skills, learning how technology and social media can support their adult lives.

Supported Learning Preparation for Adulthood (Eastbourne, Hastings, and Lewes) Supported Learning helps young people with various inclusion needs, such as learning difficulties, disabilities, and autism, prepare for adulthood. With access to a college campus and a dedicated team of specialists, students develop decision-making and life skills like managing money, using public transport, and shopping. They work towards qualifications, engage in enterprise events, and participate in work placements or voluntary roles. The combination of practical and classroom learning builds communication, teamwork, and the skills necessary for increased independence and integration into the community and workforce.
Steps (Eastbourne, Hastings, and Lewes) Steps is designed for young people who are not yet ready for a full-time vocational programme due to diverse learning, social, and emotional needs. Students gain qualifications in different vocational subjects, participate in community projects, and develop employability, personal, and social skills. With small group teaching and wraparound support, students are prepared for progression onto Step-Up, a Supported Internship, Project Search, or a full-time course or an apprenticeship.
Step-Up (Eastbourne, Hastings, and Lewes) Step-Up offers a progression from Steps, focusing on employability skills, work experience, and personal development. In a supportive environment, students work in small groups to achieve higher qualifications and build independence, preparing them for a full-time curriculum course or employment.
Preparation for Training and Work (Hastings only) Preparation for Training and Work helps young people, including those with EHCPs or disabilities, get ready for the workplace. With support from job coaches and mentors, students participate in work placements, voluntary work, and work-related experiences. Many progress to supported internships or further training, gaining essential skills and behaviours for employment.
Internship (Hastings only) The Internship is a one-year supported programme based in the workplace, for young people aged 18-25 with an EHCP. Job coaches and mentors help students overcome barriers and provide the support needed for successful work placements. On graduation, students often secure paid employment in their local community.
Project SEARCH Supported Internship (Eastbourne only) Project SEARCH is a one-year supported internship programme for young people aged 18-25 with an EHCP. The course is based at Eastbourne General Hospital which provides the opportunity to gain and develop work related skills, knowledge and behaviour whilst on placement in three different hospital departments. Job coaches and mentors help students overcome barriers and provide the support needed for successful work placements. On graduation, some students have been successful in gaining paid employment at the hospital whilst others find work in their local community.
