This vocationally focussed Level 3 course will offer students key music knowledge and practical skills alongside their A level study. Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply: A GCSE grade 4 in English Language or Maths. Good ability on a musical instrument to be shared at interview.
The work is all coursework related with no final exam and will require students to give formal oral and live music presentations and submit portfolio(s) detailing all research undertaken in the completion of each unit.
A BTEC Level 3 Certificate (equivalent to 1 GCE AS level) : Distinction , Merit or Pass.
Most students will continue onto the Year 2 course, Music BTEC level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at ESAM at East Sussex College.
Students will be offered the opportunity to buy support materials, and some students like to buy their own music software to extend their experience.
We will audition candidates for this course. At the end of the year, students will gain the BTEC certificate and they will be eligible to continue for a second year to complete the Music BTEC level 3 Subsidiary Diploma.
