During this exciting Level 3 course, we'll show you everything you need to know about practical media techniques across a range of different platforms as a way to get you to start becoming an active learner.
You'll work on projects where you are encouraged to actively research and learn new formats, new techniques, new narrative forms and new delivery formats. You will discover your passion for creation through working in production teams as well as an individual approach so you can choose your own pathway in a final major project at the end of the year.
You will be taught by a team of professionals who have a huge amount of experience in Filmmaking & Photography. As well as developing a very sound understanding of these languages through theory and research, you will also develop fluency in visual language, academic research and writing skills, essential for progression to higher education and much of the creative industries.
You will gain good work-related experience and be able to build a professional portfolio by working on 'real life' industry projects with local organisations such as The Depot in Lewes and other organisations in Brighton and London.
Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English and/or maths at grade 4.
Assessment will be continuous throughout the course, with regular academic reviews with your tutors. There is no formal examination for the diploma, but you will complete an end of year project for external moderation. This Final Major Project will give you an opportunity to specialise in TV, Filmmaking or Photography.
Successful completion of the first year will give you a Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, equivalent to 1.5 A-Levels. Once you complete the second year, you will achieve a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology, equivalent to three A levels.
Once you have finished this course, you might like to consider studying with us for another year to complete our Level 4 Creative Enterprise course. Or you might like to progress to university, in which case you could study Digital Media Design with us in Lewes, or explore our BA (Hons) degree options such as Photography in Hastings.
There will be a course contribution cost of £115 to cover materials.
We recommend that you undertake around ten hours of home study/on-location work per week in addition to your college classes.
