Within the mandatory units you will explore codes of practice, whistleblowing, real life scenarios and case studies as well as exploring how to safeguard yourself when working in the sector. There will be the opportunity to look at the different stages of life, significant events and a persons care needs at each point. The employability modules look at mental health and wellbeing, team and independent working and a basic introduction to first aid in the setting.
Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and maths at grade 3. A clear DBS check will be required.
You need to produce a portfolio of evidence and all units within these qualifications are internally graded A* - D. Some assessments are practically orientated where you have to demonstrate the skills, qualities and behaviours associated with the workplace.
You will achieve the Level 2 Certificate in Health and Social Care.
You could progress onto a Level 3 programme to develop your knowledge and understating or you may choose to go into the workplace and undertake an apprenticeship.
There is a small cost for the materials involved.
If you do not have a grade 4 or above in Maths or English we will give you the opportunity to gain this alongside your Health and Social Care course and this will make up your study programme.
A work placement will be an element of the study programme so start considering where you could do this before attending your interview.
