This two-year Level 3 course combines academic study with practical learning, giving you a broad understanding of education and learning while allowing you to explore where your interests could take you.
You’ll develop knowledge of learning, development, safeguarding and educational practice, alongside skills in planning, evaluating and adapting learning activities.

You’ll explore how people learn and develop across different stages of life, from early years through to adulthood.
Topics will include:
? Child development and learning ? Educational and learning approaches ? Planning and adapting learning activities ? Assessment and using assessment information ? Safeguarding, health and safety ? Positive relationships and communication ? Inclusion and supporting different needs ? Reflective practice ? Risk assessment ? Using technology in education and learning
You’ll develop an understanding of how educational approaches can be adapted for different learners and situations. The course gives you a broad foundation rather than focusing on one specific role, allowing you to explore the education sector before deciding where you want to specialise.
How will I learn?
You’ll combine classroom learning with practical and applied activities, such as employer-set briefs and industry placements.
You’ll have opportunities to plan learning activities, consider different learners' needs, work with information and evidence, and reflect on how learning could be improved.
You’ll also develop transferable skills such as communication, organisation, problem-solving and working with others.
Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE with English Language and Maths at grade 4.
Assessment will include examinations and non-exam assessment. You’ll demonstrate your knowledge and understanding, as well as your ability to apply what you have learned to different educational situations.
The qualification is being developed for first teaching in September 2027, with the first external assessments planned for 2029.
The Education & Early Years V-Level can support progression to higher education, higher apprenticeships and further training related to education, child development and support services.
You could progress to a related university course or higher apprenticeship, or explore future careers in education, early years and other roles supporting children, young people and learners.
