Develop your creative skills and understanding of digital media. You will be introduced to industry-standard software with the aim of building skills and technical know how in audio-production, animation, film and video as well as game design, games engines, concept art, 3D modelling and the details and components of interactive media. Develop your technical ability in the virtual world to design and make 3D models of sets and characters, as well as research and plan concepts for games.

During this exciting Level 3 course, you will develop the skills and critical thinking of an artist within a highly creative media environment.
You will be introduced to industry-standard software and develop skills in audio-production, animation, film and video editing, as well as game design, games engines, concept art, 3D modelling and interactive media.
Over the two years, you will have gained the skills you need to meet the creative challenges of university and in the workplace.
Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4. A portfolio of work will be required.
Your assessment will consist of nine projects in the first year and four projects in the second year. These projects will consist of practical work, coursework, and research culminating in a final project at the end of each year. Your work will be internally marked and externally moderated by our examining body UAL (University of the Arts London).
Once you have completed this course, you will achieve a Level 3 in Games Art and Animation, awarded by UAL.
Once you have completed this course, you will have the equivalent of the A-Levels, which will enable you to progress to university. You could explore a number of creative options, including BA (Hons) degree courses in Fine Art, Designer Maker, Animation, Graphic Design, Illustration or Photography, all of which are available to study at our University Centre Hastings.
There are a number of career opportunities available in the world of computer game design, such as a game designer, animator, Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) artist, or concept artist for games.
You may be required to purchase your own materials such as sketchbooks, pens, paints, brushes, and memory sticks. You may also have the opportunity to attend a number of trips and visits, which may incur additional costs.
